INTRODUCTION
The Inka Trail Short is the same Inka trail classic 4days path, the only difference is that in this tour we will just do the last half of the Inka Trail. This part is the most beautiful and has the biggest cities in the path like Wiñaywaina, and the Intipunku or in English Sun Gate. This path is a beautiful original Inka cobbled road. Another good thing is that this Inka trail short is located close to the Jungle so is tropical. The temperature during the day is around 28°C and during the night could be 15°C. All the time you will be surrounded by trees and tropical Jungles, if you are lucky we can see birds, condors, and bears.
ITINERARY
Our trek today takes us along the most impressive stretch of the Inca Trail. We’ll visit beautiful Inca sites, see a variety of flora and fauna, and the fantastic panoramas of the Andes mountains. Covering 16km of the trail our journey begins in the Sacred Valley and works it’s way up along an original Inca Trail to the Inca site of Winay Wayna before continuing on to Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate (Inti Punku). As we make our way to Machu Picchu we’ll pass through the lush and verdant cloud forest that covers the mountain and get to see a variety of plants, flowers, and birds along the way. We may also see some larger mammals such as Viscachas (rabbit-like Chinchillas) and Spectacled Bears (if we are very lucky).
After a full day trekking, we’ll arrive at the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) in the late afternoon and get our first views of Machu Picchu spread out on the mountain below. The light at this time of day is great for photos and with fewer tourists on the site, it’s a perfect time to take some pictures of the site. After we’ve passed through the Sun Gate we’ll carry on along the trail a little way before taking a side trail that leads us to Aguas Calientes in the valley below where we’ll check in to our hotel.
wiñaywayna – climbing the stairs of this city
Wiñaywayna – The biggest construction in the Inka trail Short
that is the last part of the Inka trail close to wiñaywayna, the Inka trail short.
On this day we will wake up really early to head to the lost city of the Incas, also known as Machu Picchu, being the first ones to take the bus that will take us to this archeological site. On the way, you will be able to appreciate the first view of Machu Picchu along the mountains that are on top of the Urubamba River. Once we get to Machu Picchu we will have a 2-hour tour along with the most important places of this site. We will learn about its importance, its religions and its history, and we will also be able to appreciate its beautiful architecture done by the Incas. After the 2 hours with the guide, you will have free time to explore Machupicchu by yourself until you want.
there are 2 mountains to climb, if you are planning to add it you have to do it in advance, you can do one and the price is $70USD no matter which one you add the Machupicchu mountain or the Huaynapicchu mountain. After Machupicchu, we will meet up at Aguas Calientes in the afternoon to take the train back to Cusco. Remember Machu Picchu Ticket is included and is different from the optional Mountains.
Machu Piucchu – the end of the Inka trail
We have Daily departures for the Inka Trail Short. The weather is dry all year. However, between December and April, there are a few rain spots, but it is not a big deal. Machu Picchu and the Inka Trail Short are on the other side of the Andes Mountains and in a lower place, the temperature can be around 25°C during the day and 13°C During the night. Nevertheless, the second day is cold the way back to Cusco. That is why on this tour you need summer and winter clothes. Click to check the Peruvian wheater.
There are many destinations into Machu Picchu like the Machu Picchu Mountain, Huayna Picchu Mountain, the Inka Bridge, and the Sun Gate, the first 2 have to be booked on time and the last 2 are for free. Click to know more about The Destination inside of Machupicchu.
Maybe you know that Machu Picchu was not the principal city of the Inka empire. However, was a sacred temple to receive the new year. If you are interested to know the timeline of the Inka history, I recommend you to visit Cusco (the capital of the Inka Empire), Click to see The Destinations in Cusco. After Cusco, the Inkas built the Sacred valley, Click to see The Destinations in the Sacred Valley, and then they built Machu Picchu and the great Inka Trail. if you visit those destinations first, you will be an Inka History expert when you reach Machu Picchu.

I couldn’t book the classic Inka trail 4 days in advance. however, Mega expeditions recommend me the Inka trail shot, the same path just the last half of the classic. but we saw incredible constructions and the path is the best.
